Key

Meaning

Certainty and access. The Key is the card of yes — something opening, a solution found, a matter confirmed. It marks importance too: what the Key touches is significant to the reading, not incidental.

Its opening quality works both ways. A Key can unlock what was shut, and it can also mark something being formally opened that the querent might have preferred closed.

The tone is positive and definite. The Key is one of the few cards that offers something close to confirmation, and it is heavily relied on in yes-or-no work for that reason.

Beside other cards

Usually the modifier, confirming or unlocking its neighbour. Key + Ring is an agreement confirmed. Key + Book is a secret revealed. Beside Mountain it often indicates the way around the obstacle.
